Vijay Varma as cop
The trailer for Kaalkoot begins with Vijay, a police officer, writing a resignation letter to his superior. Vijay claims that the recent cases that he has been assigned have taken a mental toll on him and he wants to leave the force. However, his resignation is rejected and he’s sent back to investigate an acid attack case. Vijay is shown in his khaki uniform and it’s clear that he’s not happy about being stationed in a small town. The trailer then cuts to a scene of the acid attack victim. The victim is screaming in pain and Vijay is trying to get information from her. The trailer ends with Vijay’s determination to find the attacker and bring them to justice.
Shweta Tripathi, Vijay’s Mirzapur co-star, is playing an acid attack survivor in the case Vijay’s character is probing. We also see glimpses of Seema Biswas and Gopal Datt, in a rugged form as his superior police officer.
Sumit Saxena, who is best known for writing the screenplay of Karan Johar’s segment in Netflix India’s 2018 anthology Lust Stories, is the director of Kaalkoot, a thriller series. This series is set to release in 2020 and is produced by Vikas Bahl.
Kaalkoot is India’s first ever web series in 3D. The series has been written by Sumit and Arunabh Kumar, the founder of The Viral Fever and actor in TVF Pitchers. It’s co-produced by Anand Tiwari, Arunabh Kumar and Viacom18 Studios. All episodes of the series will drop on July 27 on Jio Cinema.
About Vijay Varma
Vijay, last seen opposite Tamannaah Bhatia in Sujoy Ghosh’s segment in Netflix India anthology Lust Stories 2 last month, is dating his co-star. Recently, he opened up about their equation to GQ India, “I think it’s fairly understood now that we are dating each other. I am happy and madly in love with her. I call this my ‘I’ve ended my villain era and gotten into the romance era’ phase of life,” he said.
